If you would like to stay healthy, never ignore these six symptoms.never ignore these six symptoms

At Bohle Family Dentistry we are not only dedicated to your oral health but also we watch out for your overall health.  At every check-up we update your medicine list, take your blood pressure and talk to you about how you are doing.  If you have any of the following six symptoms your should see your physician right away if you haven't already.  These six symptoms indicate a possible serious medical issue that needs attention NOW!  It is not unusual in our office that we ask someone to immediately go to the emergency room or to their physicians office because of a symptom we discover.  If you have any  of  the  following, pick up the phone and make the call to your doctor.  Your life could depend on it.

  1. Wheezing while breathing-Having a whistle or wheezing sound while breathing is an indication that your airway or lungs are closing down.  You need to find out why.  Is it a severe allery, asthma or an unknown lung disease like pneumonia or bronchitis?  It is time to see your doctor and find out.
  2. Suicidal Thoughts-If you feel like there is no reason to live you need to talk to a mental health professional.  Also if you feel hopeless or trapped then they can be of help.  The National Suicide Prevention Lifeline can be reached at 1-800-273-8255.  They are available 24/7 and it is confidential.
  3. Pain or tenderness in your leg calf-DVT is called deep vein thrombosis.  It is a blood clot in your leg from prolonged inactivity or sitting.  Your leg can also swell and be red.  This can be a life threatening situation.  Call your doctor today.
  4. Blood in your urine-This combined with a pain in your sides or back could be an indication of a kidney or bladder infection or possibly kidney stones.  A doctor visit will be needed to sort out this problem.
  5. Sudden arm or leg weakness-At its worse this can indicate a stroke.  This combined with poor balance, dizzyness and or slurred speach is an emergency situation.  Deal with this by calling 9-1-1 immediately.  The type of treatments they can use to help  this are time dependant.  Act now.
  6. Chest pain-This can indicate a possible heart attack!  When you combine chest pain with sweating, nausea and shortness of breath it is as "serious as a heart attack"  This is also a 9-1-1 situation.

It always helps to be careful and healthy.  Eat well, exercise, get regular check-ups and be tuned in to your body.  Don't ignore these six symptoms of health.
