We just finished a very excited case involving a nice lady named Linda and some dental implants.  She is a 54 year old with a nice job but has had her dental issues.  Years ago she broke a tooth while chewing a nut and lost a lower right premolar.  After healing she had a standard bridge made.

More recently, Linda found out that she had high blood pressure and put on a new medication.  This new medicine cause her to have a dry mouth because of reduced salivary flow.  This chemistry change cause the teeth holding her bridge to become decayed and they were lost.  Now Linda has three teeth missing on the lower right.

Linda came to us looking for options on how to replace her missing teeth.  I reveiwed her options pointing out the pro's and con's of each option.  Linda did not want a partial denture because it wasn't permanent and came in and out.  She was afraid of getting a new longer bridge because the same thing might happen again.  Also the teeth on each side of her missing teeth were in perfert shape.  She didn't want us touching perfectly healthly teeth.  I didn't blame her one bit.

dental implantsLinda decided to get dental implants to replace her missing teeth.  The plan was to put two implants in to act as bridge abutements then put a 3 tooth bridge on top of the dental implants.  Because of some anxiety, Linda made it easy by using sedation for her surgery.  After some healing of the dental implants a bridge was made and the missing teeth were replace.

Linda was completely thrilled by her result.  She says the dental implants look and feel like her natural teeth.  She is glad she made the decision to get dental implants instead of her other options.
