I Don't Always Floss, Yes We Can Tell

I Don't Always Floss We see this all the time.  A patient does not have good dental home care and hopes that if they brush and floss really well before their appointment that we will think they do that all the time.  NOT A CHANCE!  Your tissue reacts with inflammation or redness and swelling when you don't take good care of yourself.  Flossing before the cleaning appointment will remove extra debris but the healing of the tissue doesn't happen for days or weeks.  Your teeth might be clean but the tissue gives you away.  That redness and swelling scream at us that it is not healthy.  We can tell.

Do yourself a favor and just do the right thing.  Do a good job with your oral care and be healthy.  You really do not have to brush and floss all of your teeth.  Just clean the ones you want to keep!  Plus you get the added benefit of a great smile and fresh breath.  Happy Flossing!
