My wife and I recently took a trip to Los Cabos, Mexico to attend a dental meeting (yeah, I know).  Really, I did go to class and sat there listening to lectures while outside it was sunny and 80 degrees.  But, I learned alot and that is what is most important.  I had an afternoon free so I signed up for a whale watching tour.  Humpback whales like to spend their winters in Mexico while the Alaskan waters may freeze.  They have the babies there and then go back to  Alaska for the summer.  Sounds like a nice schedule actually.

This is called "The Arch of Los Cabos" and it separates the Pacific Ocean from the Sea of Cortez.  It is the landmark sight at the head of the bay for Cabos San Lucas.  The waters churn here as two oceans collide.  There is a sandy beach nearby that reaches both sides.  One side is called "Honeymoon Beach" and has calm waters, the other side is called "Divorce Beach" and you cannot swim there because of dangerous currents.  As you can see, the water is beautiful.

On we went to spot some whales.  Quickly we found a mom and baby and the baby was in a playful mood.

Here it is jumping and having a grand ole time.  The baby was larger than our boat and could easily crush us if it wanted.  The sound it made when it landed back into the water was very loud.  We went down the coast next and found a large, older mom with her baby.  At one point she surfaced immediately next to our boat, then did a new dive.  I had never been closer than that before.

You can tell she is older by the sealife growing on her tale.  If you ever have the chance to take a whale trip, I would highly recommend it.
